JAA Professional Pilot Course
Angel City Flyers Professional Pilot Course is designed to bring someone with little or no flight time to being a qualified commercial pilot.
On completion, the candidate will have a FAA Multi Engine Commercial pilot certificate with Instrument rating and a JAA frozen ATPL. This will allow the holder to work for compensation or hire as a commercial pilot and certified to fly wherever JAA or FAA licenses are accepted..
Graduates of our course currently work as commercial and corporate pilots around the world for companies ranging from Aer Lingus to Japan Airlines.
Course Structure
Private Pilot Certificate (6 Weeks)
Training for the private pilot certificate is over a six week period in a Glass Cockpit Diamond DA40 aircraft. By the end of this portion of the training, you will have approximately 50 hours of flight time and be qualified to fly by yourself as a private pilot.
Experience Building (6 Weeks)
On completion of your private pilot certificate, you will undergo a period of experience building. This will involve developing your flying skills undertaking a variety of cross country flights. During this time, you will be continually assessed and assisted to further develop your flying ability.
Multi Engine Rating (2 Weeks)
After approximately 150 hours total flight time, you will transition to flying a multi engine aircraft and attain your multi engine rating. This is done in a Diamond DA42 Twinstar. This aircraft runs on Jet Fuel, has a full Glass Cockpit and is the newest, most advanced multi-engine aircraft available for flight training.
Instrument Rating (4 Weeks)
Your instrument training is accomplished in the DA42 Twinstar and our Twinstar Level 5 Flight Training Device. By training for your initial instrument in a multi engine aircraft, you will be better prepared and qualified to progress to a commercial flight environment.
Commercial Certificate (4 Weeks)
Your commercial flight training builds upon the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the previous training modules. Our focus on line orientated training prepares you for real world operation as a commercial pilot.
FAA – JAA Conversion (4 Weeks)
During your course at Angel city Flyers, our training will include the elements necessary to ensure that you are prepared for the variances in emphasis between the American and European systems. Your conversion course is undertaken at Stapleford Flight Centre located close to London, UK.

Price FAA-JAA Conversion

The cost of the conversion is based on 15 hours training and testing in the Diamond DA42 Twinstar and 10 hours in the DA42 simulator (FNPT2) for both the commercial and instrument. Full details of the conversion costs may be found on http://www.flysfc.com/licenceconversioncommercial.html
Please note that the JAR ATPL written exams are necessary to have been completed prior to the conversion. These are separate and not included in Angel City Flyers Professional Pilot Course for European Students. A JAA Class 1 medical should be obtained prior to embarking upon a course of study. The cost of a JAA Class 1 medical varies from state to state.
Payment options
To benefit from the package price, payment is made on the following timetable:-
- $3,900 deposit on course bookin
- $9,000 on beginning private pilot certificate
- $9,000 on reaching 60 hours flight time
- $9,000 on reaching 120 hours flight time
- $9,000, on reaching 150 hours flight time
- $4,500 on beginning the instrument rating and the balance on beginning the commercial training. Payment may also be made on a pay as you go basis whilst always maintaining a positive balance, however, you do not benefit from the package price. Cash, personal checks, travelers checks, major credit cards and bank transfers are all acceptable payment methods. Payment for the FAA-JAA conversion will be made directly to the JAA flight school.
