Multi Engine Rating
Flying a multi engine aircraft can add a whole new dimension to your flying capabilities. Night flying, IFR and flight over inhospitable terrain can be much safer with the redundancy afforded by having a second engine. Multi engine flying also brings with it a new set of challenges such as system complexity and greater speed.
At Angel City Flyers your training for the multi engine rating is conducted in a state of the art Diamond DA42 Twin Star.
During your training we teach you to make the best of the technology available in the aircraft without becoming dependent upon it. Our emphasis on single pilot resource management and scenario based training ensures you are prepared to operate safely and confidently in a multi engine aircraft.
Our FAA approved level 5 Flight Training Device allows you to benefit from the type of equipment normally reserved for airline and corporate pilots, making training more effective and efficient. The flight training device allows us to prepare you for situations that are not possible to teach in the aircraft because of both safety and aircraft limitation reasons.
The multi engine rating is composed of a number of distinct phases, including:
- General Handling
- Traffic Patterns
- Engine Failure Procedures
- Abnormal and Emergency Procedures Training
- Approach Procedures (Instrument Rated Pilots)
Prerequisites for Beginning Your Training
- Private Pilot Certificate
- Current Medical Certificate
Course Duration
We offer a four day intensive multi engine rating course for those who are familiar with the G1000. If you are new to the G1000, we have a 1 ½ day bridging course to bring you up to speed.

The course requires a $1000 deposit on booking and to benefit from the package price, the balance is due on course commencement. You may also choose a pay as you go basis whilst maintaining a positive balance on account. Please note that we train to proficiency and as a consequence it may be possible that the training required will exceed the totals above. In such case, we will bill at the appropriate Angel City Flyers rates for any excess training
